If you haven't yet this year or have never thought about treating your leather, it's about time! Properly leather conditioning can greatly extend the life of your leather products. We recommend that leather product owners condition their leather jackets, vest, chaps, boots, purses, wallets and what-have-you at least once a year. You'll want a product speficically made for leather--such as Obenauf's Leather Oil (pictured bellow) or Obenauf's Heavy Duty Conditioner both available at Erie Street Leather. Obenauf products are made from all natural oils and contain no harmful petrolium products, which can actually eat away or damage leather! Remember using Mink Oil on your baseball glove as a kid? Remember how soft it made the glove? That's because the Mink Oil was quite eating away at the leather!
With Obenauf's, a little goes a long way. Evenly coat your leather goods in thin layer of the oil and wait for it to absorb. After the oil is completely absorbed and any residue has been wiped away one should apply a for-leather silicon water/weather protection--Obenauf's water proofing spray doesn't include any chemicals known to be harmful to leather.
